Thoughts on Mall Walkers

Last night I went to the mall, not to shop, but to walk. It was cold outside and the treadmill felt unappealing, so I opted for our local shopping mall. It's amazing how many mall walkers you notice when you start paying attention. Each one gives you a little smile and nod as you pass by. It's like they are their own little mall walkers' fraternity . . . and last night I got to be a part.
That's how I met Larry. Larry is a sixty-six year old mall walker. He is quite talkative and resembles Sean Connery. I learned a lot about Larry last night. I learned that he has four kids and three ex-wives. I learned that he had a steel valve put in his heart last summer. I learned that he has a son in prison and a dog named Lucy. And, I learned that Larry has never met a stranger.
I think that if everyone was as friendly as a mall walker, the world would be a better place.
